McEwen, TN - Mr. Charles Billy Lane, age 94, of McEwen, TN passed away Sunday, April 5, 2026, at his home. He was born on November 6, 1931, in Waverly, TN to Brady and Emma Jane Lane.

An avid baseball player in his youth, Billy earned the affectionate nickname "Rabbit" due to his remarkable speed on the field. His passion for the sport was evident when he tried out for the Cardinals, showcasing a talent that many admired. Although life took him on a different path, leading him to Ohio for work rather than a baseball career, his love for the game remained a defining part of his character.

Billy worked diligently for State Stove in Ashland City, dedicating 33 years to the company before retiring. Retirement was not the end of his contributions, as he continued to serve the community by working with the Humphreys County Convenience Centers for over 20 years.

Beyond his professional life, Billy nurtured a profound spiritual side. He loved attending church and was a member at Open Bible Assembly in McEwen, where he found fellowship and solace. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him with grace and humility.

Mr. Lane is survived by his wife of 20+ years, Polly Ann Beecham Lane of McEwen, TN; stepchildren, Robert Beecham (Paulette) of Dover, TN and Betty Lake (Dan) of Tennessee Ridge, TN; 8 step grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Timmy Lane, Bill Lane, Jerry Lane, Christine Forrester (Sammy Jack), Scarlet Warden (Johnny), Camelia Willoughby, Emma Brown, Melaine King and Wilbert Lane, Jr; special great nieces, Cynthia Little and Kimberlin Little; and great, great niece and nephews, MaCayla Little, Brady Morgan and Tucker Little. He was preceded in death by his parents, Brady Griggsby Lane and Emma Jane Luther Lane; wife, Mildred Little Lane; stepdaughter, Vickie Taylor, twin brothers, Wilbert Lane and Albert Lane; sisters, Virginia Berryman and Aline Craft; and special niece, Kathrine Centers.

Funeral Services for Mr. Lane were conducted on April 10, 2026, at Open Bible Assembly in McEwen, TN. Bro. Kent Curtis officiated the service. Interment followed in Harris-Little Cemetery in Waverly, TN.
