Clara Helen Self

Clara Helen Self, age 89, was born on July 14, 1937, to Ervin and Beulah Lindsey. She was a longtime resident of Clarksville, Tennessee.

Clara was the beloved wife of Wilton "Carl" Self and a loving sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Much of her life was spent caring for her husband and loved ones, a role she held close throughout her life.

Family was important to Clara, and she enjoyed seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Christmas was her favorite time of year. She loved decorating for the holiday, hosting Christmas Eve dinner, and riding around Clarksville looking at Christmas lights. These were some of the simple joys that made the holiday season special to her.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Beulah Lindsey; her husband, Wilton "Carl" Self; two of her children, Kathy Choat and Jerry Beard; her sisters, Jean Elizabeth Young, Mary Lou Boren, and Margaret Heaton, Evelyn Guthrie; and her brother, Charles Lindsey.

She is survived by her two sons, James "Bo" Beard (Angie) and Lindsey Beard (the late Connie Beard); her sisters, Dannie Farmer and Annie Chandler; five grandchildren, Chris Choat, Ashley Beard (Kellen), Danielle Beard (Curt), Savannah Beard (Kevin), and Brandi Hambrick (Dale); and six great-grandchildren.

Her family will remember her through the traditions she created, the memories shared around the Christmas table, and the connections she held close throughout her life.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Neal Tarpley Parchman Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Friday, November 6, 2026 from 11:00 AM until the hour of service.
