Purnice Dortch, Sr.

Purnice Dortch, Sr., 92, left his earthly home on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at New Harmony Healthcare in New Harmony, Indiana.

A Celebration of Life Service was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the Osborne Funeral Home in Evansville, IN, with Pastor Tony Stewart officiating. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Purnice served in the Marine Corp. He later spent his working career at Fendricks and Stella Motors, as well as other jobs. Purnice, along with his loving wife, Nina, loved the children. They became foster parents and enjoyed caring for the children. He was a handyman and self-proclaimed Mr. Fix-it. He also enjoyed gardening and refinishing furniture.

Purnice was born October 19, 1931, in Erin, Tennessee to Earnest Dortch and Evie Minor Dortch.

Purnice is preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Evie Dortch; daughter Aireal Dortch; brothers: Eddie Dortch, Raymond Dortch, Taylor Lee Dortch; sister Lillie Dortch.

Survivors include his wife, Nina Dortch, and children: Purnice Dortch Jr., Essie Stott (Darrell), Rachael Dortch-Hines(Jerry) Denise Dortch, Angie Dortch ( Jock); siblings: Willie Dortch, Micheal Dortch, Leona Kelley, Mary Dortch, and twins Ray and Fay Dortch.
