Mary Lee Sorg Roods

Erin, TN - Mary Lee Sorg Roods of Erin, TN formerly of Pocahontas, AR passed away on February 14, 2026, at her home at the age of 89. She was born on July 11, 1936, to her parents Henry and Frances Sorg in Pocahontas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rober Roods; sisters, Anita Kelly and Katherine Head; one brother, Joe Sorg.

She is survived by her three loving children, Scott (Elizabeth) Roods, Carol (Craig) Staples and Greg (Mary) Roods; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; siblings, Lawrence Sorg, Gerald Sorg, Margie Baltz, Carolyn Felts, Joan Burtman and Judy Wurtz.

Mary Lee enjoyed traveling to see God's beautiful creation, sewing and especially caring for her beautiful plants. In her younger years she was the first lay teacher at St. Paul's Catholic School in Pocahontas, worked as a telephone operator and returned to Arkansas State University to become a registered nurse. Mary Lee was of the Catholic faith which she deeply cherished.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 11, at 11 a.m. with funeral Mass at 12 p.m. both at St. John's Catholic Church in Engelberg with Father Stephen Elser officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery. The family has chosen cremation.
