Dickson, TN - Mary Sue McClurkan Dotson, age 85 of Dickson, TN died on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at Signature Health Care in Erin, TN. A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at the Taylor Funeral Home with Tommy Marvin officiating. Place of rest will be in the Edgewood Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Mrs. Dotson was born at home on September 16, 1940. She was the daughter of the late Andrew Brown McClurkan and the late Bessie Irene Seals McClurkan. She joined in marriage to Clinton Ralph Dotson. Mary and Ralph spent a lifetime farming the land near her birthplace, growing tobacco and raising cattle. Yes, Mary was a lady, but she was a hard worker, she could do anything a man could do regarding skill, labor or endurance. For 17 years, Mary worked as a purchasing clerk for the former Schrader's Automotive. She was also employed as a secretary for the U.T. Extension Office for 17 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lester Brown McClurkan; and an infant sister, Ruby Lee McClurkan.

Mary Sue Dotson is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ralph Dotson; her sister, Sara Francis Turno; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
